New game-changing sensor for the HDR era

The Canon EOS C300 Mark III is the first Cinema EOS System camera to feature Canon's Dual-Gain Output (DGO) sensor, which means it can capture images with wider dynamic range and lower noise, making it ideal for HDR output. With outstanding low-light performance and a maximum ISO setting of ISO102400, the Canon EOS C300 Mark III enables filmmakers to capture immersive, nuanced cinematic footage in the most challenging lighting conditions.

The sensor's large native gamut exceeds current cinema standards, including ITU-R BT.2020 and DCI-P3, helping the Canon EOS C300 Mark III achieve natural-looking skin tones while also allowing greater freedom when grading in HDR productions.

Small body, big new sensor innovation – discover how Canon’s latest Super 35mm Cinema EOS camera shapes up…

Breathtaking 4K picture quality up to 120p

Featuring the recently developed DIGIC DV7 image processor, the Canon EOS C300 Mark III can continuously record high bitrate 4K files internally at up to 120fps and all the way up to 180fps in 2K(crop) mode. High frame rate recording enables slow-motion effects that can shift an everyday moment into a truly memorable image.

Enabling creative freedom and optimum control over picture quality, the Canon EOS C300 Mark III can record 4K RAW internally, at 12-bit or 10-bit, to dual high-speed CFexpress cards using Canon's Cinema RAW Light format. Not only does this allow a range of technical decisions to be made retrospectively in post, but Canon's innovative format is just 20-30% of the size of a standard Cinema 4K RAW file – overcoming the storage and transfer challenges typically associated with RAW formats.

The Canon EOS C300 Mark III can also record 4K 4:2:2 10-bit XF-AVC internally. With wide support from industry-leading software, Canon's XF-AVC format employs the MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 video compression and supports both All-Intra and the higher-compression Long-GOP, which is optimised for long, continuous shoots. Additionally, XF-AVC proxies can be saved to an internal SD card.

The Canon EOS C300 Mark III is a highly expandable and versatile cinema camera – optional Extension Units such as the EU-V2 mean it can be configured to cater for a variety of production requirements.

Modular and versatile

The Canon EOS C300 Mark III features Canon's acclaimed Dual Pixel CMOS AF, giving a natural autofocus action similar to the way focus pullers would achieve focus, as well as high-precision Face Detection AF and Tracking AF features, which should help single operators or small crews capture the moment without focal concerns.

The body of the Canon EOS C300 Mark III is based on the compact and modular Canon EOS C500 Mark II, and the cameras share many of the same functional advantages, including durability and impressive handling. They also share the same extensive range of accessories, so the Canon EOS C300 Mark III can easily be adapted to suit different filming situations.

The Canon EOS C300 Mark III is supplied with the default EF mount, making it compatible with more than 90 current EF and Cinema EF lenses, but it's also possible to fit the lever-locking EF Cinema Lock Mount (CM-V1) or the industry standard PL Mount (PM-V1) – and the lens mounts are user-changeable, giving maximum versatility.

A versatile new CINE-SERVO lens

The new Canon CN10x25 IAS S (CINE-SERVO 25-250mm) lens offers cinematographers and broadcast operations using large-format S35 digital cameras a highly versatile range with a high zoom magnification of 10x in a compact and lightweight design (3.1kg).

Similar in size and weight to the CN7Xx17 KAS S (CINE-SERVO 17-120mm) lens, the CN10x25 IAS S features a built-in 1.5x extender, taking the focal length to 375mm. Because the extender enlarges the optical image size of the lens, it will also make the lens compatible with 35mm Full Frame sensor cameras, which expands the application of the lens even further.

With high optical performance, the CN10x25 IAS S (CINE-SERVO 25-250mm) is fully 8K ready and features an 11-blade iris for improved transition to out-of-focus areas, providing a cinematic nuance along with the warm colour tone for which Canon's Cinema lenses are renowned. It also has a removable drive unit that enables the user to switch between full manual operation and full/semi servo operation to meet various production needs in both cinema and broadcast uses.

The CN10x25 IAS S (CINE-SERVO 25-250mm) lens is expected in July 2020 and will be available in both EF and PL mounts, which can also be interchanged at Canon authorised service facilities, giving added flexibility.

The lens is equipped with a variety of lens communication capabilities – such as EF lens communication protocol (EF mount), Cooke /i Technology (PL mount), broadcast standards compliant 12-pin lens serial communication, and high-accuracy 20-pin positional data output for virtual applications – to fit seamlessly into any workflow.
